Olja Alvir ist seit Oktober 2025 Junior Fellow am ifk Internationales Forschungszentrum Kulturwissenschaften der Kunstuniversität Linz. Von 2022 bis 2025 war sie Universitätsassistentin für Südslawische Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft am Institut für Slawistik der Universität Wien. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Inszenierungen von Mobilität in jugoslawischer visueller Kultur und Literatur; insbesondere in Bezug auf Partisanennarrative. Ihr Dissertationsprojekt heißt „Befreiung im Gange: Bewegung(en) im jugoslawischen Film 1947-1962“.

Nach ihrem BA in Deutscher Philologie absolvierte Olja Alvir ihr Masterstudium der Vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft an den Universitäten Wien und Zagreb. Während ihrer Studien beschäftigte sie sich mit feministischer Theorie, Imagologie und (De-)Konstruktionen von Natur und Identität. 2020/21 war sie Tutorin für Literaturtheorie am Institut für Europäische und Vergleichende Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft der Universität Wien. Von 2022 bis 2025 lehrte sie am Institut für Slawistik der Universität Wien im Bereich der B/K/S-Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften. Sie ist Co-Herausgeberin des feministischen Ratgebers „fEMPOWER“ für angehende Wissenschaftler_innen (utb, 2021) und Rezipientin des Ingeborg-Ohnheiser Preises der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Slawistik.

Olja Alvir is a Junior Fellow at the IFK International Research Center for Cultural Studies, University of Art and Design Linz. From 2022 to 2025, she worked as a University Assistant for South Slavic Literature and Cultural Studies at the Department of Slavic Studies, University of Vienna. Her research focuses on representations of mobility in Yugoslav visual culture and literature, with a particular emphasis on partisan narratives. Her dissertation project is titled “Liberation afoot: Movement(s) in Yugoslav Film 1947–1962”.

After completing her BA in German Philology, Alvir pursued an MA in Comparative Literature at the Universities of Vienna and Zagreb. During her studies, she engaged with feminist theory, imagology, and the (de-)constructions of nature and identity. In 2020/21, she worked as a tutor in literary theory at the Department of European and Comparative Literature and Language Studies at the University of Vienna. From 2022 to 2025, she taught South Slavic literature and cultural studies at the Department of Slavic Studies, University of Vienna. She is co-editor of the feminist guidebook “fEMPOWER” for early career scholars (utb, 2021) and recipient of the Ingeborg Ohnheiser Prize of the Austrian Association for Slavic Studies.
